Kretschmar Inc. is a leader in the production of quality European style smoked and cooked deli meat products and is a principal business component of the Piller’s family of companies. We are an expanding business that has been in operation since 1957 and now employ more than 250 employees in our Toronto location. We are seeking an addition to our team as:

Quality Assurance Technician

Reporting to our Quality Assurance Manager, the successful applicant will assure that all products produced, consistently meet or exceed company standards and comply with regulations. The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is chiefly responsible for performing pre-operation inspections and tasks that ensure production and technical activities are in compliance with organizational quality assurance program and HACCP / Food Safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Microbiology and/or Food Science preferred.
  • Experience in statistical and trend analysis.
  • Understand laboratory safe practice, including, but not limited to: Laboratory Safety, Chemical Handling.
  • Strong knowledge in food analytical chemistry, food microbiology and mathematics required.
  • Knowledge of Food Regulations – US and Canada.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance Systems such as GMP’s and HACCP.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) and listening skills Able to act in a professional manner with all internal and external business relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office with a strong focus on Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food science and/or plant sanitation is an asset.
  • Experience working in a production environment is an asset.

The hours of work for this position are from 4:00am to 12:30pm and approximately 30% overtime on weekends (mainly Saturdays). If this position and the opportunity to join a progressive company interest you, please forward your resume in confidence to:
